Solar energy is all around us these days! You can see it on roofs, street lights, and even on buildings. But many customers don't know how many or how much power they really need for solar panels. Solar panels aren't cheap, so it's important to find the best solution with the least cost to achieve your maximum goal. I'd like to tell you about an online tool that makes it easy to calculate photovoltaic power at your site. This will help you choose the right solar panels for your needs.

The GLOBAL SOLAR ATLAS is an online tool developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, to provide detailed information on global solar resources. This tool aims to assist governments, businesses, and researchers in assessing and planning for solar energy potential. Here's how to use the GLOBAL SOLAR ATLAS:

1. Access the GLOBAL SOLAR ATLAS website: Open your web browser and go to the GLOBAL SOLAR ATLAS website (https://globalsolaratlas.info/).

2. Select a Region: On the homepage, you can choose to view the global map or select a specific country or region. Click on the map or enter the name of a country or region in the search box and hit Download.

3. View Solar Resource Data: After selecting a region, the website will display solar resource data for that area, including Direct normal irradiation, Global horizontal irradiation and Photovoltaic power potential, the last one is what we are going to use.

4. At the bottom of the draft, you'll find a index of daily photovoltaic power output. Let's do a simple calculation, for example, if you have 4 pcs 500W solar panels, which is 2 kW. If you are in Sydney, the average index is 3.8 kW/h. 2 x 3.8 = 7.6 kWh. That's 7.6 kWh of electricity you can generate with 4 pcs 500W solar panels! And if you have 4 x 100W LED lights, they can provide lighting for 19 hours continuously.

Just a heads-up: the number isn't exact because there are lots of factors that can affect solar panel performance. If you want more expert advice on the solar panel quantity for our trailers, please don't hesitate to contact us or leave your details in the right field. We'll share more cases based on our experience with other customers. Thanks for reading.
